We are so proud of you girls and wish you the very best!

Wentworth

On 18th September, 7 Wiltshire Girls were lucky enough to be able to play on the East Course at Wentworth Golf Club. This was a donation to the squad as congratulations to the squad of girls who competed at the SW Inter County Tournament in August and we are extremely grateful. The girls were:

Seona Mauchline (High Post)

Ashleigh Thorne (Wrag Barn)

Laura Curtis (Cumberwell)

Olivia Bannon (Broome Manor)

Katie Walls (Broome Manor)

Mia Law (Tidworth)

Hattie Dunn (S & S Wilts)

Sadly our team captain, Katrina Duncan (Tidworth), couldn’t join us as she had strangely decided that University was more appealing! Good luck Katrina!

The girls had a fabulous day. The weather was exceptionally good for the time of year and the girls were blown away by the facilities, history and the course. The halfway house proved to be especially popular, constantly manned as it is…although this came a close second to the array of clubs in the clubhouse that have been donated by former winners!

As this was not a WLCGA sponsored event, all girls were taken to and fro by parents, who also stayed for the day although they were unable to walk round with the girls, and I am extremely grateful as ever for their support. Your girls don’t know how lucky they are!

Alresford

We were delighted to be invited back to the 8-county competition that is held at Alresford, Hampshire, on the last weekend of September every year.

The course was in fabulous condition and the volunteer support was second to none. Every single team of girls was accompanied by a lady member from the club to guide them round. This assistance was invaluable not only in terms of speed of play, but also for the enjoyment of the girls who could relax and play their best golf.

And play their best they did! Wiltshire was sadly one team member down due to illness yet the girls still managed to come 2nd – only losing out on a win (to Kent) by 1 stableford point! There were several handicap cuts that were very well deserved.

The team comprised:

Seona Mauchline (High Post, sadly unwell)

Laura Curtis (Cumberwell)

Olivia Bannon (Broome Manor)

Mia Law (Tidworth)

Hattie Dunn (S & S Wilts)

Rosie McGrane (Tidworth)

Special congratulations must go to Rosie because this was her very first County competition and she accredited herself brilliantly!
