Roger Searle wins the Seniors Championship

Roger Searle added a third Seniors title after a 3 hole play off with Richard Jeffery who had won the Championship in the previous two years after both finished on 6 over par 77 in windy conditions at Upavon. Playing the 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the play off, Rogers 8 foot birdie putt at the first gave an early advantage. Both then made par at the difficult flag position on the second and the 8th was then decisive. Playing first into a stiff breeze, Rogers 3 iron found the fringe but Richard followed with a rescue wood closer to the hole. Roger safely two putted for par and when Richard's putt to tie finished agonisingly close on the edge of the hole Roger was a winner yet again.

After nine County Championships and eleven Foursomes titles Roger's run of county successes is further extended with this title and he will go on to Woodall Spa in September to contest the English Seniors Champion of Champions.

Many thanks must go to the Upavon Club for their support and preparation of the course which was universally applauded by the players.
