Wiltshire are English Champions!

The English Boys Championship is a round robin matchplay event between teams from the SW, SE, North and Midlands. Wiltshire qualified by winning the SW Championship in July, the picture shows the boys with the SW Shield.

A team of 7 plays 3 x Foursomes each morning and 6 singles in the afternoon in a round robin format.

A fabulous result at Kings Lynn as the Wiltshire side battled it out against Northamptonshire winning both morning Foursomes and afternoon Singles for a 6-3 margin. Northampton shire had won their first two matches and with Wiltshire halving with Durham on day 1 only a win today would do...and they did it in style.

16 year old James Cooper led the way at the top of the singles for a 2-1 win, Jake Bolton, who has been a rock all week scored a half. After Charlie Dunn went down 3-1 it got very close but a big win at the back from Jamie Amor, by 5-4 meant we jus needed a half from Dom Burgess and Tom Stagg. Dom came back from dorm 1 down to half his match on 18 and Tom Stagg, only 14 years old, also won the 18th for a one hole margin and a convincing overall result.

Massive congratulations to the team and to our Junior Organiser, Ian Welding on a fantastic achievement.

More to follow soon.
