WLCGA COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP         - 2016

JO TERRY WINS THE WLCGA COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

The weather was perfect for the WLCGA Championships which was hosted by Hamptworth Golf Club 3rd - 5th June. Twenty - two ladies from fourteen Wiltshire clubs entered the 36 hole qualifying competition.

Hamptworth proved to be a challenging course requiring contestants to place the ball strategically in order to score well. The large, testing greens were in superb condition.

Throughout the three days, some fantastic golf was played, with several matches being decided on the 18th green and even one going to the 20th.

The Championship Salver was won by Jo Terry (Salisbury & South Wilts) with a fine display of golf.

The Taunton Bowl for the runner-up went to Alison Grandison (Chippenham) who also won the Sybil Parson Plate for the best gross score in the qualifying rounds for contestants 40+.

Former and current County Juniors had a successful Championship with Sarah Gee (West Wilts) and 14 year old Seona Mauchline (High Post) semi-finalists in the Championship.

Sarah also won the Deacon Cup for the best gross score for contestants 21 and under.

In the Second Flight, the Gillian Wood Trophy was won by Courtney Boyes (The Wiltshire) with Katie Dove-Medows (Cumberwell Park) runner-up. Semi-finalists were Tuppence Hale (Chippenham) and Karen Sturges (Tidworth).

Following her success in the Spring Meeting, Karen Gosling (Marlborough) won the Kennard Cup for the best aggregate scores in both competitions with Carol Main (Chippenham) runner-up.

The Hoare Salver for the best 36 gross score in the qualifying rounds was won by Sarah Gee (West Wilts) with Alex Patton (Manor House) runner-up. Roles were reversed when Alex Patton (Manor House) won the Barber Dish for the best nett score with Sarah Gee (West Wilts) runner up!

Chippenham (represented by Alison Grandison, Tuppence Hale & Carol Main) won the Team Shield with the best three gross score in the qualifying rounds.
