WLCGA County Autumn Foursomes and The Lumley Foursomes

Thursday 8th September proved to be a warm, sunny day for the WLCGA Autumn Foursomes, coupled with the Lumley Foursomes at Tidworth Garrison Golf Club. Thirty-seven pairs representing fourteen clubs took part.

As ever, the course at Tidworth played extremely well, with running fairways and shots to the green rewarded by quick but true putts. Ladies who strayed from the fairways found that the rough provided them with a true test! Throughout the day, shots from the nearby firing ranges reminded players of a less tranquil world outside.

Results on the day were close; winners of the Glendinning Cup were Trudy & Alex Feltham (Chippenham & Broome Manor), with a gross score of 82, the runners up were Bridget Cartwright & Lynne Chivers (Upavon) with 84.

The Hart cup was won by Trudy & Alex Feltham (Chippenham & Broome Manor) with a nett score of 71.0, with Lynn Thornton & Rosalind Thompson (KIngsdown) closely behind with 71.5.

The Lumley Foursomes proved to be even more closely contested with three pairs of ladies posting a score of 37 points.

The winners on count back were a team from Tidworth itself: Jane Carey & Angela Goodhart. Lynn Thornton & Rosalind Thompson, Trudy & Alex Feltham were runners up.

Thanks were given to Pat Traves who organised another stunning raffle which raised a total of £ 179.59 for the Junior Girls Fund
