WLCGA Finals Day. Chippenham win the Scratch League Final

The WLCGA final for the Scratch Knockout was held at Bowood Golf & Country Club on Sunday 2nd October.

Tidworth Garrison and Chippenham teams enjoyed rolling fairways and true greens with an added bonus of sunshine and little with little wind.

Spectators and caddies on the day were rewarded by matches that were very close with Chippenham winning 3 games to 2. Chippenham have finished their season on a strong note having also won the Scratch League Division 1 for 2016.

Meanwhile just down the road Kingsdown Golf Club played host to both the Handicap and Foursomes Knockout Finals.

The Handicap Final was contested by teams from Bowood and West Wilts and the Foursomes Final was played between Viv Monument & Janet Bailes (Bowood) and Karen Banbrook & Gwen Stuart (Marlborough).

The course at Kingsdown played extremely well, basked in sunshine with closely mown fairways and quick but true greens. Three of the five matches in the Handicap Final went on to extra holes. The ladies from Bowood were victorious by winning one of the matches on the Twenth hole.

Bowood also won the Foursomes Final with Viv Monument & Janet Bailes playing a steady game against Karen Banbrook & Gwen Stuart and winning on the 17th green.

 All three finals were played in true and great spirit with both venues providing superb conditions for players and spectators.
