Wiltshire Golf Ltd Statement 26th March 2020

The Board of Wiltshire Golf Ltd met via Conference call on Wednesday 25th March 2020, as per Article 11 of the Company Articles. The following decisions were made:

Governance

Whilst the current COVID-19 outbreak continues the Board will meet monthly.

The Finance Committee will meet regularly, the first meeting being in the week commencing 30th March 2020.

Club Services and Participation Committee will meet as soon as practicable.

The Company AGM will be delayed until later in the year, a process that is catered for within the Company Articles and the Companies Act 2006.

Frank Ham has now stepped up to be our Vice-President for 2020 and President for 2021, and Sue Lyons has become our Competitions Director. These appointments will be ratified at the AGM when it takes place.

Development

All Boy’s & Girl’s coaching that has not taken place will be cancelled and the focus will be placed on squads and development for the 2021 season.

Performance

The Men’s, Senior & Junior teams will not be participating in any competitive Regional Leagues this season. The decision on cancelling the Channel Leagues has yet to be finalised, but the Board has made this decision to give clarity to the players and the clubs who very kindly host matches.

Men’s South West Week at Burnham & Berrow has been cancelled, although the SWCGA Strokeplay Championship may take place in August.

Ladies Inter-County Match Week at Dudsbury is currently in doubt, but the Board has made the decision to withdraw the Wiltshire team to give clarity to all involved.

Boy’s Under 14/16 SWCGA Championship has been cancelled.

Girls ICM is still under review, as is the Boy’s Under 18 SWCGA Championship.

Competitions

The Ladies Spring meeting has been cancelled. All entry fees will be refunded.

All other competitions to be played before June 7th 2020 have been postponed. It is hoped that we will be able to play these later in the year.

Men’s & Ladies Foursomes, 3rd May 2020 at Chippenham

Men’s County Championship, 17th May 2020 at Tidworth

Junior County Championship, Boys and Girls 26th May 2020 at Bowood

Junior Team Shield, 26th May 2020 at Bowood

Ladies County Championship, 30th May 2020 at Ogbourne

Ladies Divisional Championship, 30th May 2020 at Ogbourne

Competitions to be played after 7th June are under review, and we will update members further as soon as possible.

All Men’s, Ladies & Junior Leagues and Knockout competitions have been cancelled. These will resume in 2021. If clubs wish to claim a refund of these entry fees we will gladly oblige, or we can retain them for the 2021 season.

Club Services

World Handicapping System; this is still due to come into effect on the 2nd November 2020. Wiltshire Golf still intends to deliver individual member events at any club which require one. We are developing a contingency plan that will enable us to deliver the same material via webinars should the current situation still prevail in the Autumn.

Level 1 Rules School; we still intend to deliver our Level 1 Rules Schools in the Autumn. We are hoping that this will lead on to a Level 2 event early in the New Year.

Course Rating; England Golf have ruled that all course rating activity must cease. Fortunately, in Wiltshire we are virtually complete and ready for WHS.

Safe Golf; we are awaiting an update from England Golf.

Finance

The Finance Committee will be meeting next week to draw up a list of potential options for the payment of affiliation fees going forwards over the next 18 months.
