High Post and Erlestoke Teams Victorious

On another fantastic, sunny (but breezy) day 11 Clubs met at Ogbourne Downs on Thursday 23rd September 2021 to battle it out for the Ramsbury Team Shield. This is a Seniors competition with each Club fielding 4 players, with the best 3 scores to count.

The final result was in doubt right up until the last players returned their scorecards, but the home club were just pipped at the post by...High Post with a score of 102 to 101. Pictured above are the winners Melvyn Earle, Jeremy Bowers, Brian Higgins & Chris McShane being presented with the trophy by Ogbourne Capatain John Flynn.

Individual winner on the day was Dave Myler from Ogbourne with 38 points - full results can be found on the Wiltshire Golf Website. We would particularly like to thank Manager James Short and all the staff and members at Ogbourne for a warm welcome, and for the condition of the course which was magnificent.

The victorious Erlestoke Team with the Operations Director

Two days later Erlestoke met Basset Down in the Final of the Buthlay Cup, which is the Men's Handicap Knockout Trophy. Due to the pandemic this year the competition was a straight knockout with both finalists dominating their opposition throughout the rounds. The Final was a close affair with no quarter given, but in the gathering Autumnal gloom, Erlestoke triumphed for the first time in their history, 2.5 - 1.5. 

Huge congratulations to both Clubs for getting through to the final, and also a massive thanks must go to Tim & Verity Manners plus the Wrag Barn team led by Tracey Lee for being wonderful hosts on the day.
