WLCGA Spring Meeting

 

The WLCGA’s 2017 Season began on Wednesday 19th April with the Spring Meeting which was held at Marlborough Golf Club. A large field of One Hundred and Eight ladies representing seventeen clubs took part. The weather was a bonus with little wind and and lovely Spring sunshine to ensure that participants enjoyed the day.

 

This was the first of several combined events involving the Junior Girls with Laura Curtis (Cumberwell Park) winning Division 1 Nearest the Pin and Rosie McGrane (Tidworth Garrison) winning Division 2 Longest Drive.

 

 The home players did well; with Karen Gosling (Marlborough) retaining the Scratch Cup with a score of 83, on count back from Hilary Cargill (Chippenham).

 

The winner of the Handicap Cup for Division 1 was Amanda Milton (Marlborough) with a great score of 64. Hilary Cargill (Chippenham) and Natalie Condon (Marlborough) were second and third.

 

The Dorothy Dykes Cup for Division 2 players was won by Ann Smith (Salisbury & South Wilts) with 93. Rosie McGrane (Tidworth) (one of the Junior Girls competing) came second, with Christine Davis (Chippenham) third.

 

The Taunton Handicap Cup for Division 2 was won by Rachel Moran (Marlborough) with a score of 70. Ann Smith (Salisbury & South Wilts) and Christine Davis (CHippenham) were second and third.

 

Chippenham ( Hilary Cargill, Anne Fisher, Christine Davis and Win Jones) retained the Peggy Mackenzie trophy with a combined nett score of 290.

Finally thanks were given to Marion Oliver who organised the raffle which raised a total of £ 316.14.

 

The president, Pauline Hawkins, also thanked Robin Thornton and Jan Scott for manning the Reception Desk, distributing and checking the many cards and recording the results.
