Wiltshire Girls V Dorset Girls

Sunday 7th May Wiltshire Junior Girls played their first match of the season against Dorset at Cumberwell Park. It was a lovely sunny day with little wind and the course played well.

The format of the day was foursomes and the standard of golf on both sides was very good and both teams were a credit to their counties with their attitude to the game, respect to their opponents and own team members.

The matches were all close with two of the matches going to the last putt on the 18th. Ashleigh Thorne (Wrag Barn) and Laura Curtis (Cumberwell Park) had to give one shot and won by 1 up on the last after a nail biting finish.

Wiltshire Girls Captain Seona Mauchline (Highpost) and Katie Walls (Broome Manor) received two shots and were 2 down coming to the 16th, both girls fought back well to win 1 up with the last putt on the 18th from Seona.

The matches played by Hattie Dunn (Salisbury and South Wilts) and Mia Law (Tidworth), Sammy Walls (Broome Manor) and Rosie McGrane (Tidworth) were well fought with Wiltshire losing both these 4/3.

The result of the match was an honourable draw with both counties looking forward to meeting each other again at the South West Junior Girls Inter Counties 23rd to 25th July at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
