Chippenham Victorious in Buthlay Cup Final

Chippenham team captain Baz Worth led his crack squad of club golfers to victory in the prestigious WCGU Handicap trophy, which is named after Ron Buthlay the former County Captain, President and long-term Secretary of the Union.

Both finalists had won through the group stages in the notoriously difficult 'Blue League', with Chippenham then defeating Upavon 4-0 in the semi-finalat Wrag Barn. High Post had a very different route to the final, halving their semi 2-2 with Ogbourne, but emerging victorious from a sudden death play-off at Tidworth Garrison.

And so to the final on the 1st October 2017 at Marlborough Golf Club. After a tense and very close front 9 Chippenham finally pulled away, running out 3-1 winners.
