Niamh Cripps has been chosen to be one of the 6 England Golf Young Ambassadors for 2020

Niamh plays her golf and is a member of Broome Manor Golf Club in Swindon.

She is 13 years old and first started playing golf 5 years ago.   This year she has reduced her handicap from 21 to 9.5 and has had an amazing season. She plays for the club’s junior team and now represents Wiltshire girls.

She sent in her application to England Golf.  Out of over 100 applications from all over England she was shortlisted to 35 and asked to attend a try out day in Birmingham.  She was asked to speak for 3 minutes about something that is close to her and not golf related.  She spoke about the Benjamins Smile charity, which is something she is involved in and loves to support.

Niamh has been chosen to be an England Golf Young Ambassador and the role will involve promoting golf to young people, helping improve the perception of how young people see golf and helping grow the game.

Lee Hayward, her coach at Broom Manor said the Niamh’s work ethic is outstanding and she works really hard on her game through her coaching programme and structured practise sessions.  She also is a great role model for the younger girls coming through and is a volunteer helper in the weekly group girls’ lessons at the club  and was a girl’s golf rocks ambassador for 2019.

He also said “I honestly cannot praise her enough of how she sees golf as a whole.  She plays with a smile all the time. What I love is that she offers so much of her own time to help others in the golf club and the academy. She is a real credit to her parents and herself and she totally deserved the England Golf Young Ambassador place.”

Well done Niamh – what a great achievement.
