Wiltshire Golf
Wednesday 28 October saw the Assessment Day for girls hoping to make the top squad for the county. Taking place at Cumberwell Park, head coach John Jacobs put the girls through their paces with short game challenges and some very testing putting. Two former county juniors, Katie Warren & Sarah Gee came along to give their support and show the girls where they might take their golf.
During lunch, a hailstorm that turned the greens white looked as though it may spoil the plans for the day, but the afternoon brightened, and the girls played the par-3 course for John to see their skills being applied on the course.
After a debrief with girls and parents, the squad for 2021 was named:
Katie Walls (Wrag Barn – captain) (photo above), Jennifer Almond (Marlborough), Serena Bennett (Broome Manor), Lizzie Bryant (West Wilts), Summer Carash (Wrag Barn), Sofia Coredor-Escalante (Broome Manor), Niamh Cripps (Broome Manor), Maya Fitzgerald (Bowood), Ellie Webster (Wrag Barn)
Clubs are invited to put forward any girl members who are in regular coaching and playing out on the course. Wiltshire Golf is always keen to know about new up-and-coming talent to take into its system.
