Loughrey's Ladies Victorious

Wiltshire's young Ladies team, led by Gill Loughrey finished South West County Match Week in fine style, defeating reigning English County Champions Gloucestershire 3.5 - 1.5 on Wednesday morning.

Led out by foursomes pairing of Seona Mauchline and Katie Walls the Tractor Girls established early dominance with a brilliant 3 & 2 victory. Despite a valiant effort, Niahm Cripps and Alex Patton went down to a 2 & 1 defeat, leaving the match delicately poised at 1 all. Although Wiltshire had lost their first 3 games their team spirit is magnificent, and this stood them in good stead going into the singles.

Meg Rossouw continued her magnificent form, storming to an early 5 & 4 victory, which was then matched by Jess Hayes who also finished off her tie on the 14th green. Olivia Bannon was last to finish, grinding out a creditable half point, meaning that Wiltshire ran out clear winners.

It's been a tough week, with a young Wiltshire side competing against strong, experienced opposition, but the future looks bright!
