Sue Long, North Wilts

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Sue Long, member at North Wilts Golf Club, has passed away.

Sue joined the club in 1981 and became a great ambassador for North Wilts. She was Ladies Captain in 2005 and served on many committees over the years including the Ladies, Business and Management.

She was a very keen golfer, a formidable opponent in match play, never giving up until the last putt dropped!

She represented the Ladies first team for many years.

However, as a County we are hugely grateful for the work she did with junior golfers in Wiltshire. Sue was a very popular Wiltshire County Junior organiser over many year and held the posts of Captain of the Wiltshire Ladies Past Captains Association  and the Ladies County Representative.

More recently, Sue committed a lot of time and effort to coordinating the volunteer marshalling during the Covid pandemic restrictions and could always be relied upon to offer her services.

Our thoughts are with her partner Jane, her son Victor and daughter in law Tamsin.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday 15th March at 1pm at the North Wilts Crematorium, Wootton Bassett. Please wear bright colours.
