Hole in Ones, They're Like Buses...

What's the best way to celebrate a special birthday? Well, Broome Manor member and past Club Captain John Steele felt the best way to mark his 60th birthday (sorry John) was to take some of his best golfing friends away on a trip to Scotland.

However, little did he know that the attention was to be stolen away from him by not one, but two of his mates. In order to prepare for 3 rounds at Gleneagles, the group stopped off at the magnificent Siloth on Solway links for 18 holes before venturing further north.

The first 11 holes proved uneventful, however, on the 12th, a 190 yard par 3, Lee Thrush (Broome Manor & Wrag Barn) holed out with his four rescue for an ace. Amazingly, in the next group, Paul Turland (Broome Manor) did exactly the same thing with the same club! Two holes in one, on the same hole, within 10 minutes! I'm told the evening went quite well, although memories are hazy!

If you have a story that could rival this one, drop us a line at secretary@wiltshiregolf.org
