Graeme Wright (North Wilts) - Men's Senior County Champion 2025,

With temperatures in Salisbury reaching the mid 20’s even at 8.00am, the best of the County Seniors gathered on 10th July for what would prove to be a testing encounter.
The fairways may have looked golden, but the greens and aprons were an emerald green – as the players took to the challenge of 18 holes in souring temperatures, perhaps with an element of trepidation.
On course, if you had the courage and ability to hit the greens, you had a fighting chance to score as the greens were receptive and running fabulously true, but that was the risk you took, anything that missed their target would bound and run. Temperatures reached 30 degrees and more, and the scores that started to come in were reflective of the tricky conditions. For a while, Simon Dymoke (North Wilts) had carded the best score of 76 (+5), but as the later groups came in, his score was bettered by 1 by Andrew Snellgrove (Tidworth) with 75 and then Graeme Wright from (North Wilts) came in with an even better and impressive 73 (+2) - Graeme thought his double bogey on 17 would be his downfall, but as it turns out, none of the finishing players could better his round that featured 4 birdies. Graeme will now go on to Woodhall Spa to represent the county in the Seniors 'Champion of Champions'.
A huge thanks to the S&SW club for giving up their course for the day and to their green staff for presenting the course in such wonderful and testing condition.
