Wessex Salver, 28th September 2025
South West Inter Counties Girls’ Team Stableford Competition
Teams of 8 girls from Devon, Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset, Cornwall and Gloucestershire were hosted at Honiton Golf Club in Devon this year. Each County enters a team of girls in two divisions, with handicaps ranging from 10 - 18 and 18.1 - 36, for an 18-hole team Stableford Competition. The three best scores from each division count towards the final result.
The Wessex Salver was established as a SW Inter Counties competition for girls without the pressure of matchplay, and it’s an excellent introduction for girls with higher handicaps to have the excitement of playing for their County for the first time. Hebe Jordan and Lauren Littleford had the honour of representing Wiltshire for their first time at this competition.
Honiton Golf Club welcomed the Wiltshire girls with bacon sandwiches and beautiful weather. The course was in excellent condition and proved to be a good test. Each of the Wiltshire girls played in a three ball, joined by one girl each from Somerset and Gloucestershire. Scoring well was challenging, so especially well done to our Division One girls. Unfortunately Polly picked up a slight injury when she was warming up and ao showed great resilience.

Well done to all the girls and thanks to the parents for transporting and supporting the team. We all enjoyed the welcome from Honiton Golf Club (and to their bar for showing the Ryder Cup), and thanks to the Devon Girls’ Organisers for a well arranged event. We’ll look forward to playing for the Wessex Salver in Dorset in 2026.
