Winter Series Kicks Off in Style

The first event of the  brand new Winter Series took place at Wrag Barn Golf Club yesterday, with 77 golfers braving the blustery conditions in search of an early lead in the Order of Merit.

Early leaders in the 4BBB competition were County President Gill Loughrey and Operations Director Scott Talbert with 42 points, which held top spot for some time, until the Whitley pair of Ian Muirhead and Simon Humpage equalled their total, closely followed by Erlestoke's Aiden Bell and Dennis Blackley with another 42.

The normal countback method of back 9, back 6, back 3 then back 1 could not seperate the teams, and it took a nett par on the 9th hole to identify the Whitley players as the deserved winners.

Nearest the pins were won by Jayne Little (High Post), Bill Austin (Whitley), Steve Cooper (Cumberwell Park) and Jon Hemming (Chippenham).

Wiltshire Golf would like to offer a massive thank you to Wrag Barn for hosting our first event. The course presentation was a credit to the Manners family, head greenkeeper Neil Carter and all his staff, and the welcome from General Manager Tracey Lee and her team was, as usual, second to none.

Now on the second event at High Post on the 28th November which is fully booked. However there are still spaces at Tidworth Garrison on the 24th February and Kingsdown on the 19th March. We will be adding 2 further events in April, including the Grand Final, so keep monitoring the website www.wiltshiregolf.org  for further information
