High Post Stars in the Winter Sunshine

Thirty eight teams battled it our at High Post Golf Club last Friday in the second Winter Series event of 2025. Conditions were superb - sunny, windless and a perfectly prepared course meant that good scores were possible .... but not guaranteed as the subtly undulating greens were running fast and true!

Early leaders in the Clubhouse were Wiltshire Golf president elect Roger Searle and wife Sue who returned an impressive 39 points going out first, but this was soon eclipsed by Wrag Barn siblings Nick and Newman Floyd with 41. This equated to a score of -2, and this earned them first place in the gross event.

Erlestoke veterans Aiden Bell and Dennis Blackley came close with 40 points , but as night closed in it looked like no one could challenge the Highworth-based brothers ... However, despite playing the last two holes in the dark, the last team out, another Wrag Barn team consisting of Alan Kavanagh and Brian Drane also return 41 which pipped them for the title on countback.

Wiltshire Golf would like to extend a massive thank you to the Board, members and staff at High Post for hosting a brilliant event. Manager Andy Rideout and all his team presented the course in immaculate condition, especially the greens for which Course Director Tom Freeman and his team deserve special mention.

Full standings can be found HERE, and we're looking forward to event 3 at Tidworth Garrison in February.
