Ladies Inter County Match Week

This week Wiltshire Ladies County Team took on the rest of the South West Counties at Perranporth in Cornwall.

They faced the tough draw of playing the hosts in the first session on their home turf, however, the Wiltshire Squad's winter practice sessions, training camp at Perranporth combined with some team insider course knowledge provided the visitors enough of an edge to beat the hosts 3-2.

Despite this exceptionally strong start to the campaign, Wiltshire were simply out gunned by the other counties. The majority of matches were however, very close going down to the final holes making this the most competitive appearance for Wiltshire in recent times.

The last session culminated in a near upset, where the favourites and leaders Dorset could have been knocked off the podium by a Wiltshire win, which would have let Somerset in. At the halfway point, Wiltshire were 2 1/2 - 2 1/2 against Dorset, and they were clearly rattled. Unfortunately Wiltshire ended in a narrow defeat 3-2 to Dorset.

The points results do not reflect how close the matches were and how far the team has come. Wiltshire is now building strength in depth with 4 rookies being selected for this event and congratulations to all those who played and supported.
